Support Survivors. Support Stories. Support Canadian Authors.

Let me start by saying this: Stories save lives.
Not just the ones written in books—but the ones spoken between friends, shared across kitchen tables, or whispered when we finally feel safe. Stories remind us that we’re not alone. And when those stories are told with courage, they have the power to transform silence into strength. Many times, I've shared how much Joseph Heller's Catch-22 truly saved my life. I picked it up during one of my lowest points, and it filled my days with laughter after every single page. It was exactly what I needed back then.
The Hate Game: Screaming in the Darkness isn’t just my story. It’s the story of countless kids who were failed by the systems meant to protect them. It’s the story of survival. Of dark humour. Of trauma told without apology. And it’s Canadian with a British twist. That matters.
Because in a world of billion-dollar publishing giants and celebrity book deals, Canadian authors—especially memoirists and survivors—often get drowned out. We’re here, writing in the margins, telling the stories that don’t come with marketing budgets or Netflix tie-ins.
So, here’s my gentle challenge to you:
Support Canadian authors. Especially the ones telling hard truths.
Buy the book. Share it. Leave a review. Tell a friend.
And when you can, choose the work of a writer who isn’t afraid to wade into the shadows and drag the truth into the light. Canadian stories are fierce, funny, diverse, and unflinchingly honest. And they deserve a place on your shelf.
I didn’t write The Hate Game to get rich. (Mission accomplished!) I wrote it because silence doesn’t protect anyone. I wrote it because someone needs to read it.
Maybe that someone is you.
Thank you for supporting my work, for supporting survivors, and for believing in the stories that are sometimes hard to tell but impossible to ignore.
